What we want:

Strangetastic publishes supernatural fiction including light horror and dark fantasy. We're particularly interested in stories featuring ghosts, monsters, and elements of local and regional folklore. Vampire and zombie stories will be considered if they bring something unique to the genre, but we would prefer to focus on other topics.

Experimental stories are welcome, as are very long and very short stories, but preference is given to works between 1,000 and 6,000 words.

What we don't want:

1. Non-supernatural horror.
2. Pure gore.
3. Anything with serial killers.
4. Sword and sorcery.
5. Science fiction.

Reprints, Multiple and Simultaneous Submissions:

Strangetastic does accept previously published work. Please let us know if a work was previously published (along with when and where).

Strangetastic does not accept multiple submissions. Simultaneous submissions are fine, but please note that the piece is under consideration elsewhere in your email.

How to Submit:

Paste your cover letter and story into the body of an email and send it to submissions@strangetastic.com. Please do not include your story as an attachment, as it will be deleted.

In your cover letter, please include the following information:

1. Your real name and the name your byline (if different).
2. A one or two sentence description of the story.
3. The story's approximate word count.
4. Any information about previous or current submissions of the piece.
5. The title of the piece.

For the actual story, please use single spacing, with an extra space between each paragraph. Indicate emphasis (italics) by setting off the word or section with _underscores_.

Contractual Information:

Strangetastic will receive the right first web publication of the work, and will retain the right to display the story on Strangetastic.com indefinitely. Additionally, all stories are published under a Creative Commons “Attribution-NonCommercial-Sharealike 2.5” license.

The full author's contract will be sent to you upon acceptance of your story.

What we pay:

Unpublished stories over 1,000 words: $25

Previously published stories over 1,000 words: $10

Stories less than 1,000 words: $10
